Tip of the Day! - Take-home Cards!

Hello and Welcome!

Taking the Bible Lesson Home!

When I have spent time formatting pictures for my Bible lesson, I also like to copy and paste each picture onto a document, to resize them for take-home cards!
Then I print off one set for each student and cut them apart.
They can be stapled together as a book or stored in a snack size zip-lock bag.

For review, my students also enjoy putting them in order
as to what happened first in the Bible lesson!

The one little picture that doesn't match the rest is the application thought that I try to always include.
A fun way to learn!

Find pictures just like these to download and format for your Bible lessons here!

Tip of the Day - Hanging Visual Aids on a Folding Wall!

 Hello and Welcome!

Today's tip has to do with

Hanging visual aids on a folding wall!

Any time I have had classes in a room with folding walls, displaying
my teaching visual aids has been a challenge!

I began by hanging a sheet from the ceiling and pinning my teaching aids onto the sheet.

Through the years, several ways to hang visual aids have been used and now
I pretty much have in mind the process to do a neat looking
job that enables me to refer to the visual aids easily.

I love bulletin board paper and have used it to help with some of my largest projects!

The picture below doesn't show my largest project but it does show the use of visual aids on bulletin board paper and the small tabs on the folding wall that made the display job easy and convenient!
On each corner of the bulletin board paper display, reinforce by adding a piece of clear box tape on the back then use a hole punch making a hole through the paper and the tape.
Put string (crochet thread #10) through hole and knot ends together, then wind around tab on folding wall,
Do this process on the top and bottom corners.
Your display should be sturdy, attractive and easy to teach from!

Here I have displayed a map and the Names of Satan!

Here I chose to display 7 things God hates Proverbs 6:16-19

Each thing God hates was listed 1-7.
Then pictures added, showing these 7 things being acted out.
I had numbers 1-7 on the side of the board
and had the students match the numbers with the corresponding pictures.
They enjoyed the challenge!

Tip of The Day - Tracing!

Hello! And welcome!

Today’s tip has to do with

TRACING!

I am somewhat of a paper saver. It comes in pretty handy when I am in project mode.
White, tissue gift paper is something that I have grabbed up many times for pattern making.

While working on a Bible verse puzzle poster at the churches building, I realized, that in order to make this poster  available to other teachers, I was going to need a pattern.

I had no tracing paper on hand, my supply of tissue paper was lacking and my poster board was too dark to just put up to a window to trace the picture onto an overlaid poster.

So what to do?

Have you ever noticed how,
when it’s time to change the film on a laminator,
there is always a little laminating film left on the roll?

Necessity is the mother of invention,
so I looked around the room
searching for something transparent enough to use for tracing,
my eyes fell upon a small stash of leftover laminating film!

PERFECT!

It was certainly clear enough and won’t rip like tissue paper.

I was ever so thankful to the person who decided to save this stuff!!

I laid it out over my poster, got my black marker, and began to trace.
It worked perfectly!
So think again before throwing out that leftover laminate!!

Sorry, there was a bit of a glare.
There you have it, a perfect pattern!
Tape pattern to a window
and lay white or light colored poster board
over pattern to trace!

Tip of the Day! Hanging Visual Aids!

Hello and Welcome!

Suspended/Drop Ceilings

Dealing with suspended ceilings can be a challenge. I have seen people try to hang something by going up and over the medal that holds each piece of the ceiling in place, but it seemed to me there had to be a better solution than this.

I always love it if there is something I can use that I have on hand, so I tried my trusty paper clip and it worked! The large medal ones work very well but the smaller ones will work if that is all you have.

Instructions:

Take a large paper clip and bend it out halfway making an “L” shape.

Insert the longer end of the paper clip into one side of the metal strip in the ceiling.
(It should slide in fairly easy.)

To hang visual aid with string, put a loop in the end of the string and hang onto the extended part of the paper clip.

Surprising how much weight these little clips can hold! I use them all the time! Sometimes I even use two paper clips together if the weight is a little heavy.

To reinforce a hole punched in a visual aid for string insertion, add a piece of clear packing tape to the back of the visual where you plan to punch the hole.
Punch the hole through the visual aid plus the packing tape.
This will help the visual aid have less chance of ripping.

(At the time I was trying to figure out my dilemma, I had no idea there were hooks made especially for this type of ceiling, but here is one that seem perfect for the job! To order, click on the hook below!)
