5 Bible Books of Poetry

Hello and Welcome!

Resources!

The Rose Book of Bible Charts, Maps and Timelines is a wonderful reproducible resource book!!

One thing I use and appreciate is the helpful chart provided for each book of the Bible!

Our studies, in my 4th =5th grade Bible class are taking us through the 5 books of Poetry.

I am sharing a poster with you created by using the Books of Poetry charts offered in the Rose Book of Bible Charts, Maps, and Timelines!

The red stars mark which book which we have covered and the green star marks the we are studying from at the present time.

I used a dye-cut machine for the lettering and stars,  enlarged the chart for each book, arranged and glued each item on except for the stars,  then laminated the poster and stars separately.

You can use tape or Velcro to attach the stars to the laminated poster.

Light - Memory Verse Game

Hello and Welcome!

Learning Bible Verses with a Game!

1 John 1:5
God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

My students absolutely love Bible games!
They make learning Bible fun!

Find these little light bulbs at Hobby Lobby for $1.00,
and at Walmart with paper clips inside, but the cost is a little more.
Unscrew the ends and add identical memory verses
with parts of the verse cut into strips.
If using 2 opposing teams,
see which team can put the verse in order correctly first.
Have fun learning!

Sin Weighs Us Down

Hello and Welcome!

You would be surprised at how heavy a little sack of glass decor beads can get as you hold them out away from your body for a while. This is what I do for my students when talking about sin. It weighs us down physically and spiritually! When the sack beads are taken away from them they feel the weight lifted. That is what Jesus did for us! He took our sin away!

Mary Rose and Me Learn Bible Truths Together - "Hidden Within"

1 Peter 3:3-4
Your adornment must not be merely external braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

Book 1 - Chapter 2
Today was the day when Mary Rose was to visit her Great Grandparents! She loved spending time with them and was looking forward to showing off her brand new shoes!

Philip and the Royal Offical

Hello and Welcome!

Sharing a Bible Lesson from the Christian Age!

(Acts 6:1-6)
Philip had a good reputation, was full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom.

(Acts 6:7)
The word of God kept on spreading, and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.

  (Acts 8:1)
And on that day (the day Stephen was stoned for preaching Christ) great persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

(Acts 8:4-8)
Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.
Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began proclaiming Christ to them. The crowds with one accord were giving attention to what was said by Philip, as they heard and saw the signs (miracles) which he was performing. So there was much rejoicing in that city.

(Acts 8:12)
But when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized,* men and women alike.

(Acts 8:27a)
But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, "Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza." (This is a desert road.) So he got up and went;

(Acts 8:27b-28)
...and there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he had come to Jerusalem to worship, and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet, Isaiah.

(Acts 8:29)
Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot."

(Acts 8:30-31)
Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?" And he said, "Well, how could I unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

(Acts 8:32-34)
Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this:
"HE WAS LED AS A SHEEP TO SLAUGHTER; AND AS A LAMB BEFORE ITS SHEARER IS SILENT, SO HE DOES NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH. "IN HUMILIATION HIS JUDGMENT WAS TAKEN AWAY; WHO WILL RELATE HIS GENERATION? FOR HIS LIFE IS REMOVED FROM THE EARTH."

The eunuch answered Philip and said, "Please tell me of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself or someone else?"

(Acts 8:35)
Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture...

...he preached Jesus to him.
(Jesus is the one being spoken of in the scripture before He was even born.
John the baptist references Jesus as the Lamb of God - John 1:29)

(Acts 8:36)

As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said, "Look! Water!
What prevents me from being baptized?"

(Acts 8:37)
(And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may."

And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

(Acts 8:38)
And He ordered the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water,
Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him.

(Acts 8:39)
When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away, and teh eunuch no longer saw him, but whent on his way rejoicing.

(Acts 8:40)
But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through he kept preaching the gospel** to all the cities until he came to Caesarea.

* BAPTISM

(from Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words,
Copyright © 1985, Thomas Nelson Publishers.)

baptisma (<START GREEK>ba/ptisma<END GREEK>, NT:908),
"baptism," consisting of the processes of immersion,
submersion and emergence (from bapto, "to dip"),
is used (a) of John's "baptism,"
baptizo

<START GREEK>bapti/zw

<END GREEK>, NT:907), "to baptize,"
primarily a frequentative form of bapto, "to dip,"
was used among the Greeks
to signify the dyeing of a garment,
or the drawing of water by
dipping a vessel into another, etc.
Plutarchus uses it of the drawing of wine by
dipping the cup into the bowl (Alexis, 67)
and Plato, metaphorically,
of being overwhelmed with questions
(Euthydemus, 277 D).

Scriptures on baptism - Romans 6, Acts 22:15, Galatians 3:27.

**GOSPEL

In the NT it denotes the "good tidings" of the kingdom of God and of salvation through Christ, to be received by faith, on the basis of His expiatory death, His burial, resurrection, and ascension, e. g.,
Acts 15:1-7; 20:24; 1 Peter 4:17

Apart from those references and those in the gospels of Matthew and Mark,
and Rev 14:6, the noun is confined to Paul's epistles.

The apostle uses it of two associated yet distinct things, (a) of the basic facts of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, e. g., 1 Cor 15:1-4; (b) of the interpretation of these facts, e. g., Rom 2:16; Gal 1:7,11; 2:2; in (a) the "gospel" is viewed historically, in (b) doctrinally, with reference to the interpretation of the facts, as is sometimes indicated by the context.

Mary Rose and Me Learn Bible Truths Together ~ Peek-A-Boo!

Hebrews 13:16
“And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

Book 1 Chapter 5

As she ate breakfast Mary Rose was thinking about the events happening that Saturday afternoon.

Bible Calss Open house
Time: 2-4 PM
This was a special time when everyone in the congregation had been invited to go on a special tour through all the Bible class rooms.

The teachers had worked especially hard with preparations, making sure their room emphasized the Bible lessons for that particular quarter.

Mary Rose and her parents along with others, were welcomed by the deacon over the Children's Bible education. He handed them a paper to guide them as to where their tour began.

It was fun to see so many of her classmates walking around with their parents.

In one of the rooms Mary Rose finds an unexpected surprise!

Mary Rose and Me Learn Bible Truths Together - Soaked

… in humility receive the Word implanted, which is able to save your souls.

Book 1 - Chapter 4

Mary Rose and her family go on a camping trip every year and hiking is one of the things they love to do most. A gentle rain soaked the earth the night before, and because of that, someone is very glad they brought an extra pair of shoes!

Once they are back at camp many fun activities await them.

The end of the day seems to come 'round too quickly, but they still have time for a camp fire and a few marshmallow treats before bed.

Soon Mary Rose is in her sleeping bag being lulled to sleep by all the sound of nighttime creatures.

The next morning is a sunny Sunday and Daddy has some special devotional plans for around the morning campfire. He pulls out a bowl, a bottle of blue water, a towel, and a sponge. But that's not all. He has something special in his backpack.

Mary Rose loves her Daddy's objects lessons!

See who is glad they brought an extra pair of shoes and why Mary Rose loves her Daddy's object lessons so much, by clicking the gold star below!
